Overview

The Thermo Scientific CryoPlus 1 (Model 7400) is a liquid nitrogen storage system equipped with digital temperature display, liquid and vapour phase level monitoring, liquid nitrogen autofill system and alarm systems. It has a high storage capacity of over 5300 (2mL) cryovials.

Instrument Uses

Long term storage of mammalian cells, BSL-1 or BSL-2

Requirements

Suitable Cryovials
Users require a minimum of BSL-2 training to enter culturing labs unescorted - See the BI Access &Training page for more information.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTE

The Biointerfaces Institute at McMaster University is a state-of-the-art facility designed to use high-throughput methods to provide a new understanding of the nature of the biological/material interface, or biointerface.

The overarching goal of the Institute is to understand how biological systems respond to the introduction of synthetic materials, and conversely, how an engineered interface responds to, or is compatible with, a biological system.
